Why This Blog Exists

This is a new blog, here's a few notes on why it exists

Why This Blog Exists
I am also a keen photographer. This one was shot in Coventry

A man walks into a bookstore.

Rows of neatly arranged books, spines unbroken. Thousands of hours of thought, argument, craft.

He walks out empty-handed.

Not because the books are bad. But because they’re predictable. Everything sounds the same.

We’re drowning in content. Endless opinions. Endless voices.

But how many of them actually say something? A lot of writing isn’t about communication. It’s about sounding clever. And clever is boring.

Here’s the thing about clever: It’s a mask. It hides. It doesn’t take risks. But writing—real writing—is about clarity. It’s about putting an idea out there, sharp as a knife.

And if it cuts the wrong way? Good. That means it’s alive.

This blog isn’t here to impress you.
It’s here to make you think.

To say the things I think are worth saying. Not because they’re perfect. But because they’re honest. That’s why this blog exists.

If that sounds interesting, stick around.
If not, that’s fine too.

There are plenty of books out there with unbroken spines.
