Human Connections

He smiled, and I smiled back.

I gave a small wave and kept walking. A moment between two people, brief but good. It’s not a candid photo, though. He saw me. Looked right at me as I took it.

That was bound to happen. There was no one else around. The photo was there because of him. Or rather, because of his tricycle. It stood out.

This was Harrow Road in London. The Grand Union Canal flowed dark and steady to my left. The traffic roared past, endless and loud. But he didn’t seem to mind. He pedalled on, ready with a smile.

That’s what struck me. Not just the tricycle, but his calm. Among all that noise, he looked content. His face said it. His whole manner said it.

And that’s why I like street photography. Moments like this. Random, fleeting. If you’re ready, there’s a photo waiting for you.

Sure, he saw me. But that didn’t ruin the shot. It made it better. Added something human, something real.

A connection. Brief, but there. That’s the magic of street photography. Sometimes, it gives you a moment like this. And you take it.
